Bowl with ball (Johnny Mattsson, 1906-1970, Sweden)

A hand-carved birch bowl with ball by Johnny Mattsson, signed JM, 1950s John (Johnny) Filip Mattsson was a sculptor, woodcrafter and glass artist. He was mostly known for his wooden sculptures.

Parts of his work were shown at Triennale in Milan 1954, Florence 1954 an New York 1955. He is represented in museums such as Nationalmuseum, Stockholm and British Museum, London (bowl & sculpture).
